The Salon Professionals Intern Program
The Salon Professionals Intern Program is a result of our commitment
to exceed our client's expectations with every service we provide. It
is a systemized training program for all new team members designed to
create success for the stylist and client alike.
Interns attend three hour training seminars given in the salon every week.
Owner and Artistic Director Tina VanDerhoof, along with members from the
senior styling team are the primary educators teaching advanced classes
on;
· Hair color formulating and Highlighting techniques
· Permanent waves
· Consultations
· Designing and Styling
· Spa Manicure and Spa Pedicure procedures
· Waxing procedures and techniques
· Customer service in the salon and on the phone
· How to give a great shampoo
· Recommending professional products
As a Redken Fifth Avenue salon, we are rewarded with continuing education
provided by Redken's premier educators who come into our salon with advanced
training for all of our stylists in hair cutting, coloring, highlighting,
perming, and product knowledge.
Interns also have a unique opportunity to learn through assisting the
styling team. This has been a wonderful way for us to introduce new team
members to our clients. Assisting the styling team by applying color,
shampooing, and rolling perms allows interns to "learn by doing"
in a safe environment with the more advance stylists giving instructions,
overseeing and mentoring. With the help of an intern assisting, the front
desk is able to say "yes" more often to clients needing appointments
at a time when their stylist's book is full.
As Interns complete their training in each area of service, we open
up their books for appointments in that area. Example: Interns do not
do any waxing services on paying clients until their waxing training is
complete. This insures more "salon successes" and less "salon
messes".
Our mission is to exceed expectations, every client, every service, every
time.
Continuing education is how we do it.
